Re: Security & Home Safety – Winter Precaution
As Chinese New Year is approaching, you may be going on holidays. Statistically the crime rate tends to increase during public holidays.
City Management will step up the following measures aiming to prevent crime: -
- Home security posters will be posted up in prominent locations to alert residents.
- Registration of the identity of all decoration workers.
- Suspected persons will be stopped and checked.
- Special anti-burglary patrol team, equipped with spotlight and long torch, will be deployed to enhance the patrol frequency.
- Police will enhance frequency of patrolling.
In addition to the above measures City Management had taken, we also urge you to take the following precautionary measures for your own security and safety: -
- Ask your neighbours or friends to keep an eye on your home and empty your mailbox regularly while you are away.
- Lock all means of access including windows and doors. For large patios and balcony doors, put a wooden / metal pole / stopper at the door track, making it difficult for burglars to break in.
- Turn off your answering machine if your machine notifies caller when the voicemail box is full.
- Turn off gas hot water service and all electrical appliances to avoid fire risks.
- Try to avoid leaving valuable items at home.
While the security guards remain highly alert and make every effort to prevent crime, we appeal to you to ensure your premises are secured at all times. As a reminder, please call the Customer Services Centre at 3651 2345 or the Lantau North Police Station at 2988 2369 if you encounter anything suspicious. In case of emergency, dial 999.
Best wishes for a prosperous Year of Ox!
