Re: Better Control of Your Dogs

We have recently received many complaints from residents about dogs not on leash or muzzled in public places. In the past few months, there were about 7 cases involving residents being attacked or disturbed by unleashed dogs. Please note that under the Rabies Ordinance (Chapter 421 of HK Ordinance), no dogs shall be in a public place unless it is on a leash or under control. The dog-keeper who contravenes the ordinance is liable to a fine of HK$10,000.

We appreciate greatly that all dog owners could properly control your dogs and help maintain a harmonious living environment of Discovery Bay. Please be a responsible dog owner and show consideration for your neighbors. Thank you very much for your kind cooperation.

Meanwhile, City Management, as usual, irregularly invites the staff of Animal Management Division (AMD) under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to Discovery Bay to do educational and promotional work for dog-owners. The coming exercise will be carried out in January 2009. You may also seek AMD’s assistance by calling “Citizen’s Easy Link” 1823 if you are constantly disturbed by dogs in addition to calling our customer hotline 3651-2345.

As festive season is coming, City Management would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
