"A blazing hot Saturday 13th September saw the inaugural Discovery Bay Pirates Rugby Football Club ("DB Pirates") Beach Festival of Rugby being played on Tai Pak beach in Discovery Bay.
DB Pirates Chairman Tony Karton says, "We have received some very positive feedback from the clubs that visited. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and despite the heat kept their cool. We were delighted that we had visitors from the Flying Kukris, Sai Kung Stingrays and Sandy Bay join us for this Festival. On the day we had over 200 people playing rugby on the beach, which is a fantastic testament to the interest in mini and youth rugby in Hong Kong and the appeal of discovery Bay as a location in which to play."
At the end of the day nearly 50 games of Touch Rugby had been played with teams ranging from Under 10s, Under 11s and Under 12s, Girls and Colts (Under 14s) completing the younger age groups. 4 DB adult teams also played..."
